At the EDU-DC International Conference on Dual Career, taking place on 25 September 2026 at BayArena in Leverkusen, our sixth and final workshop will explore why financial empowerment is becoming an important part of holistic player development.

Beyond Financial Literacy: Building Financial Empowerment in Elite Women’s Football

The workshop will be led by Jane Holden, Performance Wellbeing Lead at the Women’s Super League, and Maimee Titmuss-Morris, Senior Performance Lifestyle Manager at Arsenal.

Drawing on recent research from the Women’s Super League, the session will look beyond traditional financial literacy and introduce a Psychological Financial Empowerment framework. The approach combines players’ individual financial capabilities with the environments around them – including trusted relationships, appropriate support and organisational clarity.

These insights are already helping shape a new league-wide financial empowerment programme across the WSL, while Arsenal will bring the club perspective and explore how financial wellbeing can become part of a broader player development environment.

Through practical examples and discussion, participants will consider how clubs and practitioners can help players build financial confidence and wellbeing, while preparing them for greater long-term career sustainability.
