Discover the first of six workshops at the EDU-DC International Conference in Leverkusen
How can a football club support young players who are trying to combine the demands of elite football with education, work and personal development?
At the EDU-DC International Conference on Dual Career, taking place on 25 September 2026 at BayArena in Leverkusen, one of six practical workshops will take participants inside the Dutch approach to this challenge.
SC Cambuur as a Frontrunner in the KNVB Pilot
By SC Cambuur & KNVB
The workshop brings together two perspectives on the Dutch national Dual Development pilot: the strategic approach developed by KNVB and the experience of putting it into practice at SC Cambuur.
The session will be led by Bart Goudswaard, Dual Career Coordinator at KNVB; Jan Hendrik de Roos, Elite Sport Coordinator at SC Cambuur; and Jelmer Hofstee, Manager Youth Academy at SC Cambuur.
Participants will discover how the model works within a football club – from appointing a Dual Career Coordinator and building partnerships with schools to raising awareness and providing individual support for players facing important transitions.
At the centre of the workshop is one key idea: there is no single pathway that works for every player. Individual guidance and multidisciplinary support can help young footballers make decisions that reflect both their sporting ambitions and their future beyond the game.
How can this cooperation work in practice, and what can other clubs learn from the experience of SC Cambuur and KNVB?
Join us in Leverkusen and discover it directly from the people putting the model into practice.
